What You Need
Before you generate your tape, gather the following. The more accurate your inputs, the better your tape will be.
Required
- Arrow speed (fps) โ measured with a chronograph at your actual draw length, draw weight, and with your hunting arrow. If you don't have a chrono, you can use your bow's rated IBO speed as a starting point but accuracy will be lower.
- Sight radius (inches) โ the distance from your peep hole to the front sight housing. See Measuring Sight Radius.
Optional but Recommended
- Arrow weight (grains) โ total finished arrow weight including tip, insert, nock, and vanes. Heavier arrows lose speed faster over distance and will affect tape accuracy at longer ranges.
- Draw length (inches) โ your actual draw length. Used with IBO speed to estimate real-world fps if you don't have a chronograph.
- Elevation (feet) โ your shooting elevation above sea level. Affects air density and therefore arrow trajectory. Use the Altitude Correction feature if you hunt at significantly different elevations.
What You Don't Need
You don't need to know your arrow's ballistic coefficient, spine, or vane specifications. Sight Tape Gen uses a real-world speed-based model derived from your inputs โ not theoretical ballistics tables.
